Program Description

Henkels & McCoy Training Services (H&M) has been selected as Workforce Solutions Youth Services provider effective July 1, 2012. For more information: H&M?s Florida Youth Connections, H&M Training Services; Florida WIA Youth Programs Video library

WIA (Workforce Investment Act) Youth Programming for both Out-of-School Youth and In-School (emphasis on seniors and CAPE academy youth). The Workforce Solutions Youth Connections℠ model is an intensive case management youth program leading to outcomes of jobs and/or college for eligible/suitable young adults. The program emphasis is HS/GED attainment, industry recognized credential(s) attainment(s), increase in reading and math skills, career/vocational exploration utilizing workshops, college/university tours, speakers and work experience, enrollment in post secondary education or advanced training/occupational skills training, employment and/or military.

Youth Incentives

Youth may have opportunities to earn incentives (up to $650) based on skill achievements and progress towards program goals, industry credentials, and positive outcomes. Details are outlined in a written youth incentive policy. Work Experience H&M will target suitable youth to participate in work experience. Students will career explore and job shadow and may have an opportunity to earn up to $1,680 for successful completion of defined learning activities/career exploration objectives.

Eligibility Requirements and Important Information

To be WIA eligible, a youth must be between 16 and 21 years old (this program will emphasize older youth, 18-21) , low income and have at least one of the following barriers: deficient in reading or math skills, school dropout, homeless, runaway or foster child, pregnant or parenting youth, offender, or an individual who requires additional assistance to complete an educational program or to secure and hold employment. Program staff (Career Coaches) will determine eligibility. Documentation is required. Recruitment is open now!
