Program Description
Girls on the Run of the Treasure Coast
is a unique, life-changing, after school
program for 3rd through 8th grade girls designed to promote healthy habits and
an active lifestyle.
The dynamic 12 week program combines
training for a 5k (3.1 mile) running race with education and interactive discussions about critical issues that will affect pre-teen girls as they reach adolescence. Trained coaches teach life lessons to girls through fun and clever running games and workouts.
Our goal is that girls completing the program are physically, mentally, and emotionally stronger and better prepared to overcome the challenges and pressures of adolescence and beyond.
We offer two programs:
Girls on the Run -
is for 3rd-5th graders, helping them prepare for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living using interactive and creative running activities, games and discussion.
Girls on Track -
is the middle school program geared for 6th-8th graders. The principal philosophy behind both programs is the same, yet the depth of processing varies in order to be age appropriate.
The Girls on Track middle school curriculum allows for more mature processing around certain topics including eating disorders, internet safety, cyber bullying and tobacco and alcohol use.
The Basics:
Weekly meetings occur: 2X per week
Entire season lasts: 12 Weeks
Each meeting lasts: Approximately 1 hour or 1 hour + 15 minutes
Meetings consist of: An introduction, warm-up, a workout for girls of all ability levels, and a wrap up
5K Fun Run celebration at the end of the season. For safety reasons, each girl is required to have a designated adult running buddy for the race.(Running buddies must register and pay the stated race entry fee)
