Program Description
Our religious school program is based on the philosophy that Reform Jewish education should address the whole child-their intellectual, spiritual, emotional and physical needs. Our challenging curriculum engages the young learner in a continual search for answers to questions such as these:
What is Judaism'
How do I live a Jewish life'
Who are the Jewish People of whom I am a part'
The goal of our program is to educate young people toward a lifelong commitment to Judaism and its continuance. Our students will identify strongly as Jews and participate as dedicated members of the Jewish community. Being educated at Temple Beth Shalom will prepare your children to choose to practice Judaism out of love and respect for its traditions as well as out of knowledge of our history, ideals and language.
Jewish education involves exploring the central concepts and ideals of the Jewish people. Our curriculum spirals so that broad ideas are revisited as the student matures in understanding and grows in ability. Examples of Jewish concepts in our curriculum include such historical and current topics as:
God, Israel, Mitzvot, Life Cycles,
Social Action, Jewish Identity, Tzedakah
Covenant, Prayer, Hebrew, Holidays, Torah
