Program Description
Federal Agency. Processes application for social security and supplemental income (SSI) benefits; issues new social security numbers and replacement cards; receives reports of changes and problems affecting beneficiary accounts; and answers inquiries and disseminates informational material.
Social Security Disability Insurance - provides monthly payment to workers who become severely disabled before they become 65.
Social Security Retirement Insurance - provides monthly payments. Supplemental Security Income (SSI) provides payments to aged, blind and disabled people with limited income and assets.
