Program Description

Receives and investigates misdemeanor complaints from victims, prosecutes those perpetrating crimes against children. Receives and processes worthless check complaints and attempts to get restitution from writer in order to prevent charges from being filed. Assists victims of crimes and state witnesses with court appearances and restitution. Investigates and prosecutes those who exploit or abuse elderly and the disabled, and refers victims to appropriate agencies. In accordance with Legislation, the State Attorney's office institutes procedures to allow for the orderly, efficient and effective investigation, intake and processing of all felony, misdemeanor, criminal traffic, juvenile, and specially enumerated civil cases referred by municipal, county, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.
